Hi all,
I've been struggling to run an unsteady simulation of a wake in the proximity of a wall boundary, which is an unsteady flow. It's easy to run a steady simulation using simpleFoam and the solution looks alright. When I switch to pimpleFoam (running as pisoFoam with k-omega SST), the unsteadiness in form of vortex shedding appears at the start but over time dies out and the solution becomes steady again. I've tried to refine the grid to ridiculously high resolutions (finer than LES grids) and changed all fvSchemes to second order (linear scheme or it's variant). Is there something I'm missing that would allow the solution to remain unsteady? I'm attaching two snapshots of my flow (spanwise vorticity for 2D simulation) at different times, where you can see the shedding being suppressed. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks |
