Hi everybody,

I am trying to run the Taylor Couette flow tutorial from the wiki pages:
https://wiki.openfoam.com/Taylor_Cou...Andras_Horvath

In the tutorial OpenFoam v1812 is used, while I am trying to get it running on OpenFoam 2.4.x. The first "problem" I faced was OpenFoam asking for RASProperties file. I copied it from another tutorial setting the model to laminar. Anyhow: I assume v1812 reads the information from the turbulenceProperties file while 2.4.x needs the RASProperties file. Is it able to use other settings in v1812 than RAS (and laminar)?

The second problem was OpenFoam telling the following:

--> FOAM FATAL ERROR:
flux requested but p not specified in the fluxRequired sub-dictionary of fvSchemes.

I typed in

fluxRequired
{
default no;
p ;
}

in the fvSchemes taken from another tutorial as well. Nevertheless, I do not understand what this entry is telling me and why it is needed for 2.4.x and not for v1812.

The simulation starts for the first 16 time steps with the adaptions named above. Anyhow, after 16 steps the residuals rise to values above 4000 and the simulation stops (before there look quite good).

Are there any other adaptions that need to be made to run a v1812 case on 2.4.x? Or are there (in general) any reports about comparisons of different versions and their input parameters and solvers? For example I got OpenFoam-dev installed on another machine and it tells me the DyM solvers had been included in the "not DyM" solvers. How can I get to know from which versions on such adaptions have been made? I would like to get a tutorial running on OpenFoam 2.4.x which was created for OpenFoam-dev here as well.

Are the adaptions for the different versions possible in general? Are there any hints/guidelines/... how to proceed?

Thanks a lot and kind regards
mörli
