Hi all,

I'm simulating a supersonic cavity in rhoCentralFoam using SST k-omega model. My only problem is that the pressure fluctuations are slowly dying down. Why is this occuring? Anyone has a clue about this? Kindly reply asap.

Hey Maddy,

Can you please elaborate on your issue? What BCs are you using and what are the initial conditions?

Hi Anjay,

Thanks for your reply.

Inlet - initial velocity profile given and inlet pressure provided.
Walls - No slip and Zerogradient for pressure.
Outlet - Wavetransmissive for pressure and velocity.
Top - Wall

Initial conditions:
Inlet pressure = 39386.2 Pa
Mach 2.0 and Temperature = 166.66 K

y+ is 20.
Standard Wall functions are implemented in OpenFOaM.
Solver: rhoCentralFoam

Kindly let me know your mail ID. I can ping you if more details are needed.

Maddy.

Hey,

Your initial values for k and omega are very important as well.

This link might help. The turbulence dissipation might be causing your problems.
