Hi Foamers,

I was using openFOAM 2.3.1 for a internal hvac problem. I was able to provide heat flux BC
on surfaces using turbulentHeatFluxTemperature BC.
But in openFOAM 6 this BC is no longer supported. What is the alternative for this BC in OF6 ?
I am shifting from OF2.3.1 to 6 because I want to use externalWallHeatFluxTemperature BC
for giving HTC and external temperature on external walls. This is not possible in OF2.3.1

I saw some threads: wallHeatFlux utility for an incompressible case
but didn't got any answer related to OF6.
It looks like there is an utility to do this : wallheatflux-utility, but I want to know what is the native option in OF6 itself.

Thanks,
Ravi

Hi Ravi,

I had the same issue while upgraded to OpenFOAM 5.x with
Code:
compressible::turbulentHeatFluxTemperature;
Then, I took the same BC from the old version of OpenFOAM and compiled it by myself for OpenFOAM 5.x. As an example, I am attaching my BC for OpenFOAM 5.x (myturbulentHeatFluxTemperature.zip). Compile it as usual by
Code:
wclean
and
Code:
wmake
It worked fine for me, you can try with OpenFOAM 6.

Bests,
Sandeep

Thanks a lot Sandeep.
I will compile it with openFOAM 6 and will check if it works with OF6 or not.

But I wonder why it was removed in newer versions, there is absolutely no
other alternate boundary condition for turbulentHeatFluxTemperature ?

If really there is no native alternative then it should be added back, because its a frequently required BC for thermal simulations.

I think turbulentHeatFluxTemperature BC is replaced by externalWallHeatFluxTemperature ?
