Hi there,
I am playing around with a case quite similar to the floatingObject tutorial (OpenFOAM v1706). The issue at the moment is that the simulation blows up after some time, see attached plots and solver log below. The deltaT is 0.01s with PIMPLE residual control set to 1e-6, and it runs okay for a while, actually simulating more than 42s, then it breaks. What would you suggest to improve the run stability? Also, in regard of the overset mesh, checkMesh (attached log) seems to output no differences between the constant and the mesh at 42s, as the two regions do not actually change shape. Is there any way to check on the actual computational mesh? I mean the combined regions (background/overset) at certain timestep. Furthermore, I am not sure how the overset solver interpolate the "boundary" cells, and if so what is the quality of those cells? Could that be connected to the run failure? Unfortunately, the case may crash (or not) using different meshes, as I use blockMesh and snappyHexMesh to create them with different numbers of cells. I would greatly appreciate any tips/best practice in regard of the overInterDyMFoam cases setup and solution, or poiters to related references. Cheers, Gino |
