Hi everyone,
in the next few months I'm going to simulate a 2D VAWT with openfoam. I would like to do both steady state and unsteady simulations. I have already clear how the sliding mesh technique is implemented in openfoam, but I'm still struggling with the MRF steady approach. To have a better understanding of the problem I decided to replicate the mixervessel tutorial from scratch. I copied the case folder and deleted the original mesh. I created an identical copy with gmsh software using an unstructured mesh. I defined a rotor volume including the 4 internal yellow zones and a stator volume with the remaining 4 yellow areas. You can see the original mesh and my variation in the following pictures: I defined the different patches as per the original tutorial case. I ran the simulation for both case and the original converged around 700 iterations faster than my variation (residuals 10e-4). Comparing the results i got similar values for U while for all the other variables i very different behaviour (I.E the pressure field in the next picture): Is there something I'm missing in the definition of the rotor regions by MRF file? Thanks in advance for any suggestion. Last edited by Pervispasco; July 24, 2018 at 10:10. |
