Hello, I am working on fvDOM library to simulate a radiation problem. I was just wondering why Initial residual is not equal to the final residual obtained from the previous iteration?

Like if you see if the figure "firstIteration" , we have initial residual as 0.1075 and final residual as 0 for first ray, now in the next iteration initial residual is 0.061662 and final residual as 4.97e-19 for first ray?

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Ankur

Counter-question: Why would you expect it *not* to change?

Dear Sir,

Actually the equation, I am trying to solve is quite simple, which is given as:
dI/ds = kappa*(I_b-I);
where kappa is an absorptivity, I is the intensity at certain distance s and I_b is Black body Intensity.

Now, first of all, in one solver iteration itself, it shall give that the ray is converged as the final residual is less than the convergence.

But, if it comes to the next solver iteration, the initial residual should be equal to the final residual obtained from the previous iteration according to the mathematical procedure.

Are you Okay with my Answer?

Thank you very much.
