silverbluep is on a distinguished road
Hello. New to CFD here. I have the following case

* I need explicit recordings of a landscape with wind blowing. I need to record turbulence if there is explicitly.
* I want eddies and turbulence driven by the time variation in the wind.

I have set up a case with pisoFoam. My geometry is very regular (2d rectangle with inlet/outlet on y and periodic BC on x). The only issue I have is with a time varying BC. I want to have it distributed as a gaussian with mean (10 0 0) m/s and some standart deviation. I could not find such a BC built in to OpenFOAM. Do I have to code this on my own?

Also is my approach to this correct? Are there other means of making BC more natural like actual wind blowing in a field?

EDIT: Found groovyBC, but it seems its only for openfoam 1.4, whereas I have 5.0.
