Good afternoon,
OpenFOAM support GPU processors ? If YES, than I am curious what is the best option in which to add 2 video cards (GTX 1080 Ti 11GB) on my PC : SLI or NOT ? The doubt come because the video cards support SLI option, and theoretical must increase performance of calculus using GPU in SLI instead single (one by one). The PC have 2 scope: 1st. and most important is that: will be for simulation (fluid dynamics, thermal analysis) . As operating system is Ubuntu 17 on 64bit. I waiting with very interest your feedback. Thanks in advance to all members of community for support. Kind regards. |

There are various factors to be considered to perform scientific computing using GPU. In your case it is based on what you have? and what you want to do? This link gives you an idea about PCI E lanes vs CPU, GPU and Chipset. In case of CFD, quality of the of the output is important, the hardware should be selected based on that. Check the technical report on cfd on cuda Nvidia webpage for configurations and algorithms test cases. |
