Hey,

I have a simple simulation with a cylindrical geometry, for which I created the mesh in ICEM CFD. The top wall has a rotational movement and I am using simpleFoam, for this laminar flow of mine.

Because the mesh has around 1,4M cells (all hexa) I am running parallel. I run the decomposePar - everything fine, than I run the mpirun. It is not important if I run on 2 or 3 cores, the result is the same:

The run stops always after 6.784 s.
It finishes normally, without any errors etc. I can run reconstructPar and postProcess everything normally, but still I need a longer simulation for my case.

Aldo, I have in the controlDict specified the endTime: 50. Or 20 or 100. It is always the same.

I was searching the forums and everything, but I didn't find a similar case. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Hi, Ziga,
Probably it has stopped because it has reached the convergence criteria. Check the message at the end of the simulation log. Also check the system/fvSolution file for the convergence criteria.
I hope it will help.
Best regards
Robert

aai... thanks, totally forgot that simpleFoam is a steadystate solver. That explains it all.

Sorry for bothering. I recently started with openFoam. Need to be more careful in the future.
