Which solver to use for a compressible fluid and moving mesh

Hi,
I am trying to simulate a engine case to find the behaviour of the charge motion inside a cylinder during compression stroke. The fluid is compressile and it is a moving mesh. Now i am confused which solver to use, I checked online that rhoPimpleFoam is used for transient conditions but for HVAC applications. Is it possible to calculate my case with this solver or are there any other solvers best suitable for my case. Please leave me your comments. Thank You |

Hello Aravind Krish.
I'm not a specialist but I think You should try engineFoam. Unfortunately it doesn't include mesh topology change. I think engineFoam could deal with vertical valve in some simple configuration (flat piston and low CR). Probably there is engineDyMfoam in 1.6-ext. (I'm not sure) that include changing mesh topology. Some pdf I found during my previous research: http://powerlab.fsb.hr/ped/kturbo/Op...Zagreb2007.pdf http://kth.diva-portal.org/smash/get...689/FULLTEXT01 https://imem.cray.com/2013/Meeting-2...lia-Milano.pdf https://hpc-forge.cineca.it/files/Co...OAM-PoliMi.pdf Have a nice day. sheaker |
