Dear all,
I am having issues with the InterDyMFoam solver. Using the DTChull tutorial as a basis and replacing the parameters to fullscale values matching the fullscale ship hull. I have meshed a new hull (50m) and enivorment using a 3rd party software (CFmeshPro) using the same patch names etc. Mesh size approx 2.2 million cells. The InterFoam solver runs nicely and everything looks to be working fine. But when running the InterDyMFoam solver the hull pitches forward (bow dive) until it dives under. At first it happen rapidly but by adjusting the rotationaldampening in dynamicMeshDict the prosess is slower. I have tried to start the InterFoam solver then swithcing to InterDyMFoam after five seconds running (50s total time). The same thing happens. I have tried most of the steps in: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...-instable.html Attached is a zip file containing everything but the mesh and hull geometry. Any ideas on what it might be that causes the pitching motion? Thanks |

Dear OFNoob,
how did you calculate the ICs of k, omega and nut? It seems to me the same value of the DTCHull tutorial, which is scaled. Can you please explain? Thank you in advance, Raffaele |
