Hey guys and girls,

I'm running the standard pimpleDyMFoam propeller tutorial using ./Allrun. It has been sitting on
Quote:
Running pimpleDyMFoam in parallel on /home/bruno/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.4.0/tutorials/incompressible/pimpleDyMFoam/propeller using 4 processes
for about 2 hours now. I've been trying to find runtimes for this case and the only thing I can find is this post on the forum saying it took his system about 20 minutes.

In Allrun, the following line is written:
Code:
runParallel 'getApplication' 4
Is this line written assuming the computer that runs the code has 4 processors? In VirtualBox I allocated 4 processors to this machine but I am not sure if OpenFOAM is able to make use of this and if not, if it will continue or just stay stuck without telling me anything? I'm also doubting whether the VM actually uses 4 CPUs or just 4 threads and if that even matters. I have a quadcore processer in my system. The problem with these ./Allrun scripts is that they don't give any information while running.

I'm about to go home and let it run overnight, but I feel like it shouldn't take this long.. Any ideas on why it might be? The case is 100% standard, I didn't change anything. Running OpenFOAM-2.4.0 on Ubuntu 15.10 using a VirtualBox machine on Windows 10 64 bit. Intel Xeon E5-1603 @ 2.8Ghz, 16GB RAM

Cheers,

Bruno
