Hi
I need some help with calculating dissipation component of TKE budget from LES data. Other components of the TKE budget compares well with the experimental data. But the dissipation component is only half as that of the experiments. In this paper by Bogey and Bailly http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc...=rep1&type=pdf , they have calculated the total dissipation by adding both the filtering dissipation[explicit filter] and eddy viscosity dissipation[sgs model]. So, with OpenFOAM using implicit filtering, am I right in assuming that the difference in dissipation is actually due to the implict filtering [numerical discretization]. Is it acceptable. If so, is it possible to calculate this explicity. I am using standard smagorinsky as SGS model. |

May I ask that how you calculate dissipation in OpenFOAM? Do you implement some utility? Thanks |
