scalarTransportFoam: scalar halts

Dear members,
I'm experiencing a problem with the scalarTransportFoam solver. I've created two 2D meshes with snappyHexMesh for a porous medium. The fluid is assumed to be Newtonian and the flow is set to incompressible, laminar, steady-state. The first mesh has a lower porosity than the second one. The scalarTransportFoam solver seems to work fine in the second mesh, where thus more pore space is present. However, in the first mesh, the transport of the scalar comes to a halt at a certain moment. When I for example look at the results in ParaView, the scalar is transported through the medium when at a certain moment, the transport of the scalar completely stops (while the time continues). The scalar is inserted into the medium at the inlet (located at the left of the medium) by using uniformFixedValue and the uniformValue as a table in the time folder. Of course the flow is solved with simpleFoam before executing scalarTransportFoam. The injection of the scalar is temporary, that's why I use a table as uniformValue. After using quite some time to try to fix the problem, it seems to be a bug in the solver or so, which writes the same scalar values at different times. The odd thing is that this problem doesn't occur in the second mesh which has more pore space, while both have a velocity field. Is there anyone would can be help me with fixing this problem? Any help would be highly appreciated! |

In addition, I got the same problem when not using a table in the boundary conditions but instead implementing a scalar T boxToCell with setFields.
Anyone with suggestions? |
