Hello openFoam users,
For training reasons I made a simulation with 2 regions solid and fluid. The solid region includes heat source. The fluid includes free convection in ideal gas... All setups works and the simulation runs correctly. The problem is, that the temperature increase in the solid region (and as a result also in fluid region) very slow. How could I affect the simulation, that the calculation become faster? Usually I manipulate (increase) the relaxtionsfactor to 1, if it is not the case (I am talking about fluent here). Where is the relaxtionsfactor to be changed for solid region? Or any idea how to make the h calculation faster? /*--------------------------------*- C++ -*----------------------------------*\ | ========= | | | \\ / F ield | OpenFOAM: The Open Source CFD Toolbox | | \\ / O peration | Version: 3.0.1 | | \\ / A nd | Web: www.OpenFOAM.org | | \\/ M anipulation | | \*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ FoamFile { version 2.0; format ascii; class dictionary; object fvSolution; } // * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * // solvers { h { solver PCG; preconditioner DIC; tolerance 1e-06; relTol 0.01; } hFinal { $h; tolerance 1e-06; relTol 0.1; } } PIMPLE { nNonOrthogonalCorrectors 3; } // ************************************************** *********************** // Regards Peter |

adding:
relaxationFactors { equations { "h.*" 1; } } to the file end of fvSolution of the solid, answered the first question. The second question remains, how to accelerate the h calculation in solid region? Regards Peter |

Hello,
The density of the solid region was too high, that why the calculation was to slow and h increased too slow. The second reason was that the time step was very small to keep a low courant number... I am talking here the whole time about chtMultiRegionFoam and not chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam! --> Transient calculation! Thanks Peter |
