Dear all,
short question in hope someone can point me in the right direction: Is there a standard solver for simulating (unsteady) Joule heating in a solid? Best regards, Matthias |

Hi Matthias,
You can define a heat source by means of the use of the fvOptions framework within the system directory regardless of its nature, I guess this is what you are looking for... If you want to know how to do so, just take a look at my web site where I explain this procedure in a couple of very simple cases you may be interested in. Hope it helps. Best regards, Alex

Hello, dear visitors of the forum. I installed on my ubunt 16.04 package openfoam-dev. In my task, the resistance heater through radiation melts the substance in the crucible. Despite the fact that the package "...- dev" is often updated, I do not find there a solver "chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam" to simulate Joule heating. I know that this solver is in “OpenFOAM-v1706” and in -v1812 ". But I can not use two versions of Open Foam at the same time for one multiphysical task. How can I manage to use Open Foam-dev?"
