Hi all,

Has anybody had any experience modelling jet fans using OpenFOAM?

Ultimately I want to be able to model a prescribed pressure rise or a fixed velocity over a faceSet or faceZone in a tunnel. I have had some success using the fan boundary condition + baffles as well as the vectorSwakSetValue function in a closed volume.

My difficulty at the moment is that i'd like to prescribe the fan discharge velocity (or pressure) and let OpenFOAM calculate the resultant flow in the tunnel based on the momentum exchange from the fan. I want to avoid setting a fixed value velocity condition at the domain boundaries since this would constrain flow rate and hence the effectiveness of the fan (which is what i am trying to calculate!).

If anybody could share their experience on this i would be very grateful.

Thanks

Matt
