Hi all,

I am trying to validate turbulence models in OpenFOAM in simple free surface steady flow. so I started with a simple channel of (20*1*2 m) with constant water height of 1.5 m and I imposed fixed velocity at inlet (0.2 m/sec for water and 0.0 for air) and I fixed the water level in the channel to make sure that the flow is steady and I set the initial water velocity to 0.2 m/sec. I used K-omega as turbulence model. The full case description can be seen at the attached files.
The problem that I didn't get the expected velocity profile, at first (up to 30 sec from the start) I have more or less constant velocity along the overall water depth (except at the bottom where no-slip condition was applied), 'see the attached picture'.
After 30 sec. the velocity profile started to oscillate.
Can any one tell me how can I validate the velocity profile in this case or should i make some modifications on my case setup before I think to validate it.
Also, should I compare the velocity profile from OpenFOAM directly with the experimental results or I need to do some statistical manipulations?

Thanks in advance,

Best regards
