Add diffunding concentration into LES simulation

Hi everybody,
I am running transient LES simulations with pisoFoam (Smagorinsky model) and a Reynolds number of about 1000. I am trying to add on some nodes (or a specified surface) a concentration that is diffunding into the fluid and transported with the flow. I am interested in how this concentration gets transported through the geometry. How must I proceed if want to add any concentration in some cells of the field and just let it diffuse in the fluid? Thx Pablo |

If the source of concentration is on a boundary cells, define the cells with a set of concentration using a patch on the surface. And then use the patch name for you concentration inlet boundary condition.
Have a look at the following tutorial to add a transport equation to icoFoam: https://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/H...ure_to_icoFoam http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kur...ngTutorial.pdf |

Thx a lot rkc.cfd! I followed the tutorial and a simulation is running!
What if the source of concentration is NOT on boundary cells. I want to select some cells of the domain.. How can I do that? |

I have no clue how to do it. I suppose you can use the baffle option, but I have not used it though. I hope some one has done that in the forum and I am also curios about it. About baffles:
