Saving & reading a field in only a part of the domain

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the following is possible in OpenFOAM: I have a mesh that has a uniform, rectangular mesh in the center of the domain with circular rings around it, as sketched in the attachment. I perform the following 2-step approach: 1) I calculate during the flowsimulation a certain field (the acoustic source) that has only a significant value in the small central part of the domain, while it is practically zero elsewhere (the propagation area). I output this field every time-step. 2) I start my acoustic simulation and read the source term that was written in step 1). This approach works, but I'm not so happy with the disk-usage... Would it be possible to save the source only in the central part, which is then read again in step 2)? Thanks alot! |

Shameless self-bump... No one knows or should I post this in the programming forum section?
