Hello Everyone, very first post, I apologize in advance if I do not post in accordance with the general standard. Suggestions for improving post structure as greatly appreciated!
QUESTION: I am currently working on my thesis, AE, at the University of Texas Arlington. Our university does outstanding work with Pulse Detonation Engines. Consequently, I am very interested in PDE applications. In addition my PDE interests, I am very much interested in turbulence modeling...the genesis of my question. My goal is to determine the applicability of using turbulence modeling, particularly RANS or URANS (k-epsilon), to simulate the mixing interactions between the primary and secondary flow streams in an Ejector-Augmented Pulsed Detonation Rocket. I don't want to reinvent the wheel here, but I want to do something that can be improved upon. I prefer to limit geometric complexity, as a result i pose my computational plane to consist of the PDR nozzle exit plane(computational entry plane), through the ejector duct, terminating at the ejector duct exit plane --> 2D rectangle. Because of the pulsating flow, I imagine the boundary conditions at the inlet plane will be difficult. Primary flow will be pulsating and supersonic exhausting into the secondary stagnate fluid. Static pressure will be assumed uniform across computational inlet plane. These conditions are the equivalent of a hypersonic flight vehicle sitting on the runway. I'm not looking for any suggestion on how to set this problem up. However, I would be greatly appreciative if anyone had any literature suggestions I could use as a resource. Currently reading Turbulence Modeling for CFD by Wilcox (3rd Edition). Thanks to anyone willing to give me some of their time! |
