Hello cfd-online community,

I am currently looking for a solver to simulate atomization and breakup of a jet. In the OpenFOAM-Folder I found models for atomization and breakup in

OpenFOAM-2.3.x/src/lagrangian/spray/submodels.

My question is: What solver type is supposed to be used with theese submodels? Is sprayFoam the one that should be used? The only tutorial case I have found for this one is aachenBomb. But that includes combustion as well. Is it possible to run it without combustion? Do you know any other tutorial cases that can be found somewhere in the www?

I would so much appreciate your help. I am new to OpenFoam and have always found good help in this Forum.

Thank you

Hey Likun,

thank you very much for your reply. It seems that sprayFoam is the way to go here. I will turn chemistry off and combustion to active false and try things out. I've found some presentations and links in the internet and will dig around in the literature and cfd-online threads. I will let you know how the spray simulation went.

If you have any further suggestions or literature about modelling sprays with OF, I will highly appreciate it.

Thank you very much!
