Hello everyone,
my work is on the biophysics of hearing and in particular, I am interested in the interactions between fluids and membranes inside the cochlea. Reading this forum, I don't seem to be the only one From my earlier education, I have no background in CFD and basic capacities in C++. During the last few months I have fought my way through some basic features of OpenFOAM (took me a while until I got my mesh to move the way I wanted), but now I'm at my wit's end, and the forum threads so far don't appear to be helpful either... As a test case, I want run a FSI simulation where the flow comes from a cylinder (2D) moving up and down periodically. This should lead to deformations of the upper wall of the geometry (eventually I would like to replace it by a membrane between two fluid regions). Apart from the geometry, the dictionaries are left as in the flappingConsoleSmall tutorial case. However ... that leads to a floating point exception error after very few time steps. This happens even if there is zero prescribed motion in the first place. Instead of everything remaining at rest at all times (how much easier can a simulation get?), the computation crashes. I have attached the log and a screen shot of my geometry. What am I missing? Can this even work or am I being too naive? I would sincerely appreciate any suggestion! Thanks, N |
