Weird transverse velocity in a channel

Hi foamers,
I've got a problem with the simulation of the flow in a channel of a rod bundle. I have high residuals for momentum in transverse direction and I've found that in fact something goes wrong with that: instead of a flat, nil velocity along the channel axis (it is symmetric), I have a strange periodic behaviour (check attached plot). The main flow looks sensible (and the residuals at the end are low), except for the sections where the peaks of transverse velocity are located: here the flow is totally unphysical (check y-velocity section). I am using buoyantPimpleFoam (vers.2.2.0) with a maximum Co = 0,5. I have tried different meshes, boundary conditions, lower timesteps... but nothing works. I have even tried setting transverse velocity to zero and restart the run, unsuccessfully. I will appreciate all your attempts to help me, thank you! |
