Hi,

I need to change the turbulence model RAS by DNS or LES on engineFoam. Problem is i don't know how to proceed. If someone can help me or give me tips.

Thanks,

Maxime.

DNS is not a turbulence model but is a direct numerical simulation of turbulence. That means you run the OpenFOAM code as it was for a laminar unsteady flow. The constraint is to use a grid so refined to resolve all turbulence scales. For engineering problems, the number of cells could turn to be so high to be impossible to run

Filippo,

Technicalities aside, that still doesn't answer the question. I'm trying to run enginefoam using an LES model, same as OP but I've heard that engineFoam in itself is an RAS solver, so I'm stuck with using Xoodles for now.

Any idea on how I can use engineFoam with LES? It would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. - Yes, I know DNS not being a turbulence model is a big and important technicality, but that still doesn't help with the original question.

Why don't You check in http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/openfoam-solving/ ?
OF has LES modules ready to be called ad illustrated in the user guide

Hello Maxime,

Did you figure out what all changes need to be done to change the turbulence model from RANS to LES in engineFoam. I'm also working on something similar and any suggestion would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks!
