Dear OpenFOAM users,
I'm a beginner OpenFoam user and I would like to share my problems with the InterPhaseChangeFoam solver. I try to compute the cavitating flow around a simple NACA wing profile but the results obtained with teh last version of OF are not so encouraging. As you can see from the attached figures with OF2.2.0 tha fraction of vapor is very unstable. Moreover, during the entire simulation (abt. 3 s with a prescribed Courant number of 0.5) there are no cells completly filled with vapor (generally the minimun value of alpha1 is around 0.2). Instead, when I moved back to OF2.1.1 using the same parameters, results are extremely better: during the simulation it is possible to recognize the re-entrant jet, the cavity bubble at the profile leading edge is more stable and match pretty well teh available experimental observations. I would like to know if it is my unexperince the reason of these poor quality results or if some of you has already faced this kind of problems with the latest version of OF. Thanks in advance, Stefano |

Hi Stefano,
Could you explain why the numbers of dimension are different to p and k, for example to p: dimensions [1 -1 -2 0 0] however, to k: dimensions [0 2 -2 0 0 0 0] Thanks |

Really I don't know.
I noted too the differences when declaring the dimensions of variables. I presumed that there was an error in the declaration and I changed it without any significant difference. Stefano |

Thank you for your quickly reply.
However, it seems I could not still get correct results---very high negative pressure and error pressure in stagnation point. What about your results? |
