Hello all,
I have created a Mesh using ICEM-CFD, how can I import that mesh into OpenFOAM? and simulate my case using OpenFOAM.??? |

You can export the ICEM mesh as a FLUENT .msh file. Then use the fluentMesh3DToFoam utility to convert it. As long as you have associated and named all boundaries you want correctly, it should come in to openFoam without any problems.

Thanks for the respnse. Actually, i did not give any boundary names. I meshed in ICEM and exported the mesh in STL format. I went my directory/car and in paraFOAM , I imported that stl file. and saved in my car/constant/trisurface as a paraFOAM file.
and Im trying to solve this case using simpleFoam. Is this process correct.?? |

In my experience, the cleanest way to get a nice mesh, with all of the required information into openFoam is to:
1) Name every surface something in ICEM 2) If using Hexa, associate all faces to their required surface, to make sure the cells get appropriated to the correct surface (will be patches in openFoam). 3) Perform all mesh checks. 4) Export as an Fluent .msh file. 5) Use the fluent3dMeshtofoam utility to convert it to a format useable in openFoam. 6) run paraFoam and double check that you have all the required boundaries, and their names. |

If you don't mind, can u plz elaborate 1 step in ur reply.. How can i convert the fuelnt mesh to openfoam..?? Should I go the the car directory and type fluent3dMeshtofoam..?? Can u plz elaborate this step.? :.. Thanks once again |

In step 1, I simply meant that within Icem, all surface parts (boundaries in the domain) should have a name that makes sense to you. And any surfaces which make a definitive boundary should be placed in a separate part. For example, if you simulated flow through a box, and in icem every wall was contained in a single part, then when you mesh it, you won't have the option of picking specific walls for specific boundary conditions. If you name each wall independently then the mesh will have easily choosable boundaries.
For question 2, just type fluentMeshToFoam car.msh (or whatever you call it) in the case directory that car.msh is located in. |

Sir, But there is no option to export the mesh from ICEM to flunet .msh ...
