Hello all,

I would like to develop a partially premixed solver in OpenFoam. The test case comprises of a premixed burner of methane+air with coflow of air from the sides. I know that Openfoam has lot many solvers for non-premixed combustion with the equation for mixture fraction implemented. I would like to add an equation for progress variable with the requisite combustion model to make it partially premixed.

Can anyone point me the right direction as to the steps how to implement this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Greetings Harshad

FSD combustion model available in openfoam is based on partially premixed theories.

Hi Bobi,

Thanks for your reply, this information really helps

I am very new to OpenFoam so would also like to ask that since I would have both the mixture fraction and the progress variable equation so solve for, I would need some kind of state relationships to get my mean scalars.

Is there any way of integrating OPPDIFF/PREMIX to OpenFoam or has work in this area been done before with OpenFoam?

If you use FSD combustion model, you will have the mean scalars beforehand.

My field of interest is not Premixed combustion. However, FSD combustion model available in Openfoam is roughly suitable, except that you can only use global chemistry with it. The most interesting point about this model is the way of implementing beta-pdf integration.

Another solver that supports detailed chemistry and is for premixed combustion is Xifoam.

By searching in Google you will find good tutorials for this solver.
