Good morning everybody,
I am having some issues in properly defining the inlet and outlet boundary conditions for my test case with rhoCentralFoam. I am working on reproducing a compressor cascade in my thesis and I have tried several combinations of inlet and outlet conditions to achieve running simulations and acceptable results. One BC that has never worked for me is the pressureDirectedInletVelocity, with which I was hoping to impose the direction of the airflow, while giving it the possibility to vary in intensity. At the inlet the other conditions are totalPressure and totalTemperature, while at the outlet only the static pressure is defined, and for the temperature and velocity a waveTransmissive condition has been used. I have tested the same setup with outletInlet velocity at the inlet and the simulation converges without problems, and I have tested zeroGradient for the temperature and velocity outlets as well, and the behaviour is just the same. Instead, the simulation with pressureDirectedInletVelocity diverges after just a few timesteps, after which the Courant Number skyrockets from 0.5 to 1.43e+56 . Unfortunately there are no tutorials that use pressureDirectedInletVelocity, so I was hoping that some of you could help me understand what I was doing wrong or if there is some problem with that particular BC (even though it is listed as compatible when typing in terminal rhoCentralFoam -listVectorBCs) (I would upload the case, but the mesh seems to be too big, and the site doens't let me upload it, let me know if other info is needed, it's the first time I post in a forum) |
