Hello All,
Is it possible to burn a mixture of two or more fuel gases in the smallPoolFire2D tutorial? I am trying with a CH4/CO mixture and seems to work, except for the thermophysicalProperties file where matters only one gas at a time under the "fuel" heading. Adding a new gas like CO in the 0 folder does not create problem, changing the chemical reaction in the reaction file, adding the CO properties in the thermo.compressibleGas etc seems to work fine too, the issue is that if under the heading "fuel" I put "CH4" or "CH4 + CO" or "CH4/CO" or "CH4 CO" does not make any difference. Instead, writing under the "fuel" heading CO before CH4 the results do change Thanks |

You will not use more than one specie at a time as "fuel" if you use a singleStep reaction like the tutorial is set up to do. If you change the thermo setup to use a multiStep reaction, then you can have multiple reacting species. I am not sure that the single step reaction setup even looks at the "fuel" -- it could get all of the info from the reactions file.

Thank you very much for your answer, I think it does look at the Fuel because I have changed the reaction from "CH4 + 2O2 + 7.5N2 = CO2 + 2H2O + 7.5N2" to "CH4 + CO + 2.5O2 + 7.5N2 = 2CO2 + 2H2O + 7.5 N2" and varying the fuel from CH4 to CO the results varies too. But if i put both CH4 and CO the setup looks only at the first one it encounters.
I have tried to change the singleStep with others but it seems the tutorial needs major changes, probably I will try with something else like XiFoam etc.. Thanks Marco |
