Hi,

I'm doing a cyclic domain simulation. I'm using OpenFOAM version 5.0 and I'm not sure how to generate a pressure gradient in my domain.

I know the fvOption tool and it has worked BUT I believe it has not been very efficient. My results in LES are not very interesting when compared to what I get in Fluent and I'm '' giving '' credits to fvOption.

Quote:
momentumSource
{
type meanVelocityForce;

selectionMode all;

fields (U);
Ubar (0 0 1.472222222);
relaxation 1.0;
}
I did some tests varying the term of relaxation described above... but, they were not as I expected.
I do not know if I made the best possible configurations for my case, but this 'meanVelocityForce' is the only option for this version of OF.

Would it be interesting for me to compile the 'pressureGradientExplicitSource' used in previous versions?
Is there any option for swak4Foam? I tried using 'vectorFixedValueConstraint' ... but apparently the newer versions of this tool do not have this option.

Is there any way I can set the value of my pressure gradient, similar to the way I do in Fluent? There my gradient are dp/dz = -36.
Can I do this in swak4Foam?

I have attached some of my results ... my goal is to approximate the curves obtained in Fluent (in both software is using the same mesh).

Thanks

I am trying to do the same; while Fluent has the pressure gradient option for periodic BCs but OpenFOAM only has this meanVelocityForce. have you found out any alternative?

thanks
