Hello everyone!
I am facing a problem for which I need to have two nonconformal boundaries being cyclic or at least sharing the same flow. I am solving the Reynolds equation which is an extremely simplified 2D version of the NS equations and it's used in lubrication. The flow in cylindrical lubricated domains such as journal bearings is generally solved by unwrapping the domain from cylindrical to cartesian (rectangle, see picture). I am trying to solve a 2D problem in a 3D domain in which a cylinder is strongly coupled with a disk, hence sharing the interface connecting the two of them. Since I cannot solve a 2D equation using a 3D mesh for obvious reasons, I was wondering if there is a way in OpenFOAM to impose cyclic boundaries for nonconformal interfaces by mapping a rectangular patch to a circular one. I have been looking at AMI ACMI jump etc but without any luck. Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated since I am completely lost and I am guessing it is not possible due to the nature of the problem. Thanks Matteo |
