Hi foamers,
I m trying to do a cfd simulation with open source software. i need your suggestion on a better cad modeler for cfd . 1. geometry - salome? freecad? blender? i tried salome for a simple geometry of a room with a box inside but when i imported the stl files in snappy hex mesh it says that inside mesh of room is not possible because the room is not closed. It turns out that i could able to mesh the geometry in salome but only snappyhex mesh could not mesh it. con any one suggest where i could have possibly gone wrong ? any suggestions for a better geometry modeller for cfd purpose? The main purpose is to use the geometry for inner room simulations. so the geometry would not be very complex. Thank you for your reply Naresh |

While for Salome the specific forum might be the better choice for asking the question, I suggest the following: Create your geometry and build a composite of it. On this composite you use the "explode" function for faces.
In the meshing module you will have to build one mesh for the whole composite. Afterwards you have to "create groups from geometry" by using the faces resulting from explosion. Then you can export each of these groups/submeshes as separate STL-files which should add up nicely to a closed surface. |
