I want to setup a system where I have convection heating steam (heat transfer through a metal wall with steam in container) along with moving parts like a piston and valves, sort of like a steam locomotive engine. The question I have is basically what solver do I use that allows for these things all at once.
I noticed pimpleDymFoam can solve for wing motion but that's for an incompressible fluid and steam is definitely compressible. Heat transfer solvers on the other hand don't handle dynamic mesh systems as far as I could tell by looking through tutorials. Any suggestions? thanks. |

I don't know much about the solvers, but maybe you can modify pimpleDyMFoam by adding the heat equation, similar to http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ho...ure_to_icoFoam.

That's why I use buoyantPimpleFoam and so far I'm getting results but I would like to add a butterfly valve to my simulation too. thanks Andrew |

Hello!
did you finally succeed to create or use such a solver? I am also interested in heat transfer with mesh motion. Regards Cyril |

There is no solver for heat transfer with mesh motion AFAIK.

Perhaps, did you use the information on this link (http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ho...ure_to_icoFoam) to add the heat transfer process? Regards, Paul Last edited by Paul Caicedo; March 3, 2018 at 13:49. |
