Hi Foamers,
i've initialised an elliptical droplet under zero gravitation and i want to get a plot of the oscillation of one axis. Is this possible with OpenFoam? The additional problem is that the droplet starts moving because of parasitic currents, therefore the position of the droplet isn't constant. Edit: I already solved the problem. Thanks. Hi,
Is it possible for you to declare for me how you have made an elliptic drop? It is very important for me to validate my results. Thanks in advance |

Hi,
i'm no longer working with OpenFoam, but perhaps this extract from my thesis helps you in this case: "The cylindrical shape can easily be initialized by the setFields utility of OpenFOAM. A further utility named funkySetFields is used for the initialization of the elliptical droplet. This tool offers the possibility to initialize complex fluid forms. The equation of an ellipsoid is needed for this purpose: x2/a2 + y2/b2 <= 1 This equation can easily be translated into the code of the funkySetFields utility. The x and y coordinates are subtracted by 0.05 units for placing the shape in the domain center. The semi major axis a of the ellipsoid constitutes 0.015m and the semi minor axis b constitutes 0.01m in this test-case." Best regards Tom |

dear Tom,
Thanks for your reply. I don't know how to define the elliptic drop in setfields, a circular drop is defined as "sphereToCell" as you know. But what shod be replaced for an elliptic one? |

further, should I install funkySetFields on openFoam?

As far as i can remember, i used the tool funkySetFields for the elliptical shape. You should install it. Unfortunately, i haven't the data on my current notebook.
