I am trying to do a fan heatsink simulation using openfoam (cyclicAMI MRF and chtMultiregionFoam) but I am having some trouble postprocessing the data to see if the volume and surface temperature stopped changing since residuals is not enough to see if the case has fully converged.

The case is working fine, it's just that whenever I try to add something in the functions part in controldict, it keeps on saying "request for objectRegistry region0... failed"



splitMeshRegions -cellZones -overwrite


separate fluid domain and AMI to different folders


mergeMeshes fluid AMI -overwrite (Combine fluid domain and AMI using fluid as master)


Return the merged mesh to the case folder and then deleting the fluid and AMI folders in constant and add the newly merged mesh as fluid


Why I did this? I am having some trouble setting cyclicAMI in separate regions


This problem seems to only occur because of my poor strategy of meshing outside of the case and just copy pasting the merged mesh into the original case folder. Is there any chance that I can use mergeMeshes to combine two regions? I have already done my researches to see if there are other people experiencing my situation and there seems to be some but they were not able to come up with any solution.

I did not know that I also have to define the region in the residual postprocessing. My bad. Everything is working fine now.
