Hello everyone.
Thank you very much for your help. I have been trying to reproduce the rotation of a propeller using the MRF method. First of all, I would like to thank you all for your advice, which helped me to successfully reproduce the rotation. At this point, I'm stuck because I don't know the process of calculating the thrust produced by the propeller. I know that foces and forcecoeffs can calculate the force and torque, but is it possible to calculate the thrust in OpenFOAM? Is it possible to calculate thrust in OpenFOAM? Or is it common to calculate it using filters in visualization software such as ParaView? I have attached a mesh of the rotation region in the analysis area. I would be grateful for any advice. Thank you very much. |

If the axis of your propeller is parallel to one of the coordinate axes, then you can get the thrust by setting up the forces function object to calculate the forces for the patch of your propeller blades. This is assuming the propeller blades and boss are on their own patch. The force acting parallel to the propeller axis on the propeller patch (pressure and suction side) should be its thrust. I trust you have already looked into the propeller tutorial case that comes with OpenFOAM.
Allow me to observe that the domain might be a bit small if this is a propulsion organ of sorts. |
