Default Surface Elevation as a Scalar Field

Hi,


Does anyone know if it is possible to extract the surface elevation (filter/elevation in Paraview) for a STL file such as the terrain case pictured?


I would like to save the elevation generated by Paraview as a scalar field for use in OpenFOAM.
