How to measure eddy size

Hi All,
I'm looking for a way to measure the size of an eddy (vortex) in 2-D flow. For example, in flow over a step an eddy forms in the wake of the step. Is there a way to measure the area of the eddy or a 1-D measurement, like the eddy width. I am able to visualize the eddyby using streamtracer in paraview, but I am looking for a systematic way of measurement. I need a script that would take the velocity field as input and calculate an eddy size. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |
