OpenFOAM advanced training. July 22-26, 2019 (https://bit.ly/2WSHJHy)

We want to draw your attention to the upcoming OpenFOAM advanced training session that will take place in July 22-26, 2019. During this classroom training session we will address the following topics:

• July 22th, 2019 - Turbulence modeling with OpenFOAM® - Theory and applications.
• July 23th, 2019 - Introduction to solid modeling for general CFD and meshing using OpenFOAM® technology - Onshape and snappyHexMesh.
• July 24th, 2019 - Design of experiments, space exploration, knowledge extraction, and numerical optimization using Dakota - Code coupling Dakota-OpenFOAM®.
• July 25th, 2019 - Introduction to the FVM method, discretization techniques, and solution strategies. Standard practices in general CFD with applications to OpenFOAM®.
• July 26th, 2019 - Open day (free for participants of the advanced training). This day (from 9:30 to 16:30), is dedicated to help participants to setup their cases. Note: Lunch is not included.

Prerequisites: intermediate knowledge of CFD, OpenFOAM®, and Linux is required. Some basic knowledge of C++ and shell scripting is beneficial. For those following the optimization training, no prior knowledge of Dakota is required.

Location: DICCA, University of Genova, (via Montallegro 1, 16145 Genova, Italy).

Course times: from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, plus 30 minutes of Q&A.

Language: English

Number of seats: 15 places available.

Training material: every participant will get a copy of the printed lecture notes (high quality color), and an USB key with the supporting material.

Teaching method: lectures and hands-on sessions to validate the acquired knowledge.

• These courses are offered in cooperation with the University of Genova.
• The fee includes the printed material (high quality color), an USB key with the supporting material, and lunch and refreshments.
• Attendees are not required to bring their own laptop since workstations with pre-installed software will be available.
• A training certificate is provided to all attendees who complete the course.
