This 3-day training in OpenFOAM is designed to enable CFD users to start using OpenFOAM for practical computations. The first 2 days consists of a series of lectures that provide a general understanding of OpenFOAM topics followed by hands-on work. Along with the hands-on examples that show the “how”, the lectures include discussion of the “why” to enable participants to independently use OpenFOAM in their daily work. No knowledge of the OpenFOAM library is assumed. Basic Linux commands and their relationship to hands-on examples are covered. The final day consists of the Master Class series of lectures which arms users with the knowledge to navigate the OpenFOAM library without fear and serve as an entry point into OpenFOAM development.

To better accommodate users in the heart of Canada's energy sector, the hands-on examples will have a focus on multiphase flow applications.

We will be hosting it at the Suncor Energy Center, centrally located in downtown Calgary, AB, nestled next to the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
