Hi,
as many of you might already know, Tomislav, Kyle and myself have been working on a book on OpenFOAM Technology for the last 1.5 years and are finished with the first edition. It is titled "The OpenFOAM Technology Primer" Currently we are dealing with printing issues, but they should be resolved quickly, so that we can release the book soon. Some of you might have found "Getting Started with OpenFOAM Technology" by the three of us on amazon. This is not the book we are writing. We have tried to explain the situation in a post on our blog: http://wp.me/p4TlNX-f1. The book has ca. 450 pages and covers both novice user topics as well as advanced programming topics. Just have a look at the table of contents: www.sourceflux.de/book. It will be available on amazon, as soon as we have resolved the printer issues. Thanks for your patience and all the best, Jens

Hi Laurent,
we will - of course - announce it, when the book is finally available for purchase. This will happen on sourceflux.de as well as here on the forum. Thanks for the compliment on our blog Jens

Hi Pei,
we are currently working on some printing related issues, which cannot be solved by us alone. Hence we have no way of speeding this process up, which is a shame. As a result, we cannot give a release date, as we don't know how long it will take, to sort things out. As a general timeframe, we aim for this fall. Jens

Hi Jens,
I've been waiting for this post here . However, is it right that you only accept payment via Paypal? Because that would be not possible for us (currently). If so, would we have to wait until it appears on Amazon or are you planning to offer further payment methods? -Timm

We haven't set-up the payment methods properly, yet. Just paypal, as this was the fastest to do last night . We will accept payments via amazon as well. For everything else, we find a solution. I hope this helps?
And as far as I understood the shop, you select the actual payment method, as soon as the book is available. We will figure out all possible ways over the weekend.

We are working on it, but as you don't have to pay until the book is available (30.09), there is no need for you to select anything but "pay later" as payment method .

Ebook? Where did you see the announcement of an ebook? We are not going to release an ebook anytime soon.

Argh, that is something we forgot to remove. It is a residual from the publisher we've been working with until we split. Sorry! Thanks for pointing that out

One more question, do you already have anything like an ISBN that i could pass to the library so they order the right book? Because since this one is not (yet) on Amazon or similar services it might be difficult to find.
TIA, -Timm

We do have an ISBN, but that is not yet available via VBL. So you can't find it in the book store systems. This matter will take some time, due to some ... issues that are out of our hands.

Hi everyone,
the source code of the examples in the book, as well as the simulation cases that go with them are freely available as git repositories on bitbucket. You can get them using git: Code:
git clone https://sourceflux@bitbucket.org/sourceflux/primer-examples.git git clone https://sourceflux@bitbucket.org/sourceflux/primer-example-cases.git The installation instructions and other notes can be found: The README files have been written using Markdown, if you open them in a web browser with a markdown reader plugin installed, you'll se the same pretty info page as on the links below.* Note: for some chapters we have re-used the example cases, where it made sense to do so, that's why you won't see 13 chapter subdirectories in the example cases repository. * Markdown is awesome.
