HELYX-OS v2.0.1 incorporates a set of minor improvements and bug fixes with respect to HELYX-OS v2.0.0, including but not limited to:

• Bug Fix: Overwriting of surface refinement levels (fixed)(reported by the user Antech)
• Bug Fix: Naming error from improper child surface naming in binary STL (fixed)
• Bug Fix: Base mesh delta file properly displayed instead of zero in some cases (fixed)
• Bug Fix: Ensure that the tmp directory is cleaned properly to prevent issues (fixed)
• Bug Fix: Error caused by launch on machine set with a default language as Japanese (fixed)

Before OpenFOAM 2.1, updates were far between. Now, it is hard to keep up with them. My guess is that the availability of preprocessing tools, and in particular Helyx-OS has made OpenFOAM more popular.

Hi Dan,

Do you have any information whether ENGYS has plans to release native installation package of Helyx-OS for OSX users? In fact, the Mac is still not considered as a scientific platform but since OpenFOAM can be compiled on OSX, it might be a good idea to support that OS, as well. In case there is no such a plan, are you aware of any detailed guideline how to compile the source on OSX?

Quick answer - As far as I can see:

• I think Helyx-OS 2.2.0 was released yesterday, and supports OpenFOAM 2.3.1, according to the project's front page.
• According to this list: http://sourceforge.net/p/helyx-os/ti...lestone/2.2.0/ - those 4 items were fixes that were done for this particular version.

The new release of ENGYS’ Open-Source graphical user interface, HELYX-OS v2.3.0, provides both new and experienced users a fast and efficient interface to use OpenFOAM technology. The release supports standard OpenFOAM® version 2.4.0 (released by ESI/OpenCFD) and improves visualization capabilities and interaction with objects in the 3D viewer. In addition to the new OpenFOAM core compatability and 3D visualization, HELYX-OS now supports:

• A new text interface for blockMeshDict to allow for user-created blockMeshDict files
• A new user-defined mesh graphical widget for easier creation of base meshes by automatically scaling the bounding box to the geometry with a click of a button
• A new graphical tool for extraction of feature refinement lines (eMesh files) in the GUI to enable improved snapping in standard snappyHexMesh
• A new “custom interface” for user-defined editing and addition of dictionary files and fields to allow entry of custom dictionary entries and boundary codntions not presently supported in HELYX-OS

I just installed Helyx-OS v2.3 and it got stuck after I stopped a run by doing CTRL-C at the terminal where helyx-OS was run from. Now, the "Run" button just doesn't do anything and Helyx-OS behaves as if it were running (minus the terminal window showing the run). I went and erased my latest time saved at 2000 iterations (for every processor), but the residuals table still shows about 2500 which is where I stropped it and the "Run" button is in gray.

It is designed to be compatible with the OF v2.4.0. The previous version of HELYX-OS works with OF v2.3.0

Thanks for the post. This error happens when you kill HELYX-OS from the GUI in which it was launched? i.e. the GUI is not killed entirely and keeps going?

Hi, Yes. That is exactly what occurred. I tried deleting the mech and everything within the processors, but it still thinks it is going. Is there a way to let it know it is over? I tried stop/kill from the GUI, but it hangs in the window.

By the way, this version works great... I've put it through a lot of pain and only had the minor issue above. Thank you very much

Because cntrl-c (i.e. sending SIGINT, that can be ignored by the program) it is slightly different than a "kill" that uses the processor ID or performed from a system monitor. To truly stop something, you are better off killing than using control-C. I will see what the developers say and see what the plans are for SIGINT handling.

Also, thanks for the feedback we're glad you find it in good shape. Keep trying to break it and let me know if you do!
