Good evening Foamers,
I was wondering if anyone could help, I am trying to model a tank in simple domain. I am trying to analyse the recirculations zones inside the cylinder and outside.

So far it has been straight forwards to create a solid cylinder, but creating a hollow cylinder using snappyhexmesh seems a wee bit tricky, I haven't managed so far, does anyone have any ideas ? Much appreciated

Dia

Hi Dia,
Maybe, you can give more details about your geometry, like is the inside domain connected with the outside domain?
It also would help to make clear, which procedure you are using.
Regards, fritz

Hi Fritz,
Thanks for answering back, that is what I want indeed that the inside domain is connected to the outside domain. Such that I would allow the "wind" to wizz inside the the tank( storage tank) and outside it.

If you don't mind what do you mean by procedure ? I am planning to test out a few solvers, and play around with windfoam.

As you can get I am trying to avoid "creating" the blockMesh dict by hand, or trying to use other software to create the geometry.
Cheers
Dia

The geometry import is exactly what I meant with procedure, sorry for my unclear question. Until now, I just can say that you have to make sure in the snappyHEXMeshDict that the "locationInMesh" is carefully placed and there shouldn't be a boundary between the two parts of the domain.

Besides, what exactly is the problem?

I was trying to create a hollow cylinder with the opening into the domain. So far the cylinders or objects I create are closed. That is my issue. Not how to do that.
Cheers

Then, I don't understand your problem. It's absolutely the same.
