Hello Sung Taek Park,
Thanks for your reply. I sent you a email but it was rejected by the server, so I will just post it here. I will try as you suggested and see if it works. There is a quite great paper in ‘Ocean Engineering' called 'Dynamic overset grids in OpenFOAM with application to KCS self-propulsion and maneuvering' from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. They use snappyHexMesh and generate quite good boundary layer mesh for the hull (Fig.16 in this paper). For the propeller, it seems that they didn't use boundary layer mesh, but local refinement instead. I don't know if that's accurate enough because I am still focusing on the hull now. But that might be a hint for you. And this is the link for their simulations on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_l...NR9kosn8N-u4kA They look amazing. Hope this can help you a little and Thank you again. Any of you has solved the problem of generating boundary layers (y+<1) in complex geometries? I am facing the same problem with Salome and blockMesh

Is there anyone who can tell me what is the correct number of layers for a surface? Is there a rule based on experience?

Have you solved the coupling between engrid and snappyHexMesh, as Dr. Sung Taek Park suggested? Through cyclicAMI. It was also my issue. Best regards, Gang |
