I'm trying to install Netgen verson 4.9.12 on Ubuntu 9.10. It seems tcl, tk and Togl have been installed all right, but when trying to start Netgen at command line (default location is /opt/Netgen), I got an error message saying "/opt/netgen/bin/netgen: error while loading shared libraries: libTogl1.7.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
The asked library is located at /usr/local/lib. Why Netgen can't find it? Looked into configure and Makefile files, and specified the location, but just could not make it work. Please help. |

Did you add "/usr/local/lib" into LD_LIBRARY_PATH?

Hi Ohbuchi,
Thanks for pointing it out. I made a link to the library file from /usr/lib where it should be. It seems to be working now. The only complaint is "optfile ./ng.opt does not exist-using default values". I assume it is not critical. Fiona |

Hello Fiona,
A Good Evening to you! Did you finally solve the problem with loading geometry into Netgen on your installation? Did you by any chance have an older version of Netgen installed in another folder? Could the environment variables (NETGENDIR for example) still be pointing to the older TCL files? If you have further issues, please post a message in the Netgen mesher project page in Sourceforge.... we do not want to mix up netgen issues with OpenFOAM.... it might confuse OpenFOAM users.... Have a nice day ahead! Philippose |

I face the same problem,
/opt/netgen/bin/netgen: error while loading shared libraries: libTogl1.7.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory but before that I already move the file by LD_LIBRARY PATH by typing" export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/Togl-1.7:/opt/netgen/lib May I know what go wrong during the installation? BTW, I am the newbie in UBUNTU. Regards Lee |
