Hi,

I am a newbie to OpenFoam. I have a mesh with 2 blocks in plot3d format and wanted to convert it using the utility plot3dToFoam.

I gave the following command, with 1 processor.

plot3dToFoam meshname.x -noBlank

The operation aborted, saying new cannot satisfy memory request.

// * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * //
Create time

Reading 2 blocks
block 0 nx:161 ny:115 nz:115
block 1 nx:95 ny:241 nz:297
Reading block points
block 0:
Reading 2129225 x coordinates...
Reading 2129225 y coordinates...
Reading 2129225 z coordinates...
Looking at cell 0 0 0 to determine orientation.
Right-handed block.

block 1:
Reading 6799815 x coordinates...
Reading 6799815 y coordinates...
Reading 6799815 z coordinates...
Looking at cell 0 0 0 to determine orientation.
Right-handed block.

Merged points within 1e-15 distance. Merged from 8929040 down to 8928868 points.
Creating cells
Creating boundary patches
new cannot satisfy memory request.
This does not necessarily mean you have run out of virtual memory.
It could be due to a stack violation caused by e.g. bad use of pointers or an out of date shared library
Aborted

- Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

- Ritu

I forgot to post the solution to the problem posted above. I had a case with a huge number of cells and my machine was running low on virtual memory. I could overcome it by increasing the swap memory on my machine.

Thanks.
