Dear OpenFOAM user,
I would like to inform about the modelling and meshing tool CastNet for OpenFOAM. CastNet is based on CAD-preparation and advanced CFD-meshing technology of Simmetrix Inc., which is used in background by various commercial CFD-grid generators or CFD-systems. Based on this technology we built an OpenFOAM modeling environment, allowing native OpenFOAM export and defining complete OpenFOAM cases for often used solvers. This includes GUI setups for solvers, flow properties, physical models and geometry associated definition of boundary conditions, initial conditions, face zones (e.g. baffle faces) or cell zones (e.g. porous regions). Additionally case adapted scripts are exported with the mesh organizing the case setup and solving. More information can be found on our websites (English/German) or just contact me. Best regards Ulli |

Hi ulli,
I'm also using CastNet and can only recommend it to all other foamers. The created meshes are of good quality and the environment of the GUI is very friendly. The amount of modification possibilities is very huge. although it is an automatic mesher one can manually give enough boundary conditions to make the mesh look like desired. The compatibility to OpenFOAM is very good. I am very satisfied with this tool. And the price is quite okay, compared with othe commercial meshing tools. Best regards. Wolfgang |

Hi Robert,
sorry for the dead link. Here you’ll find the information (http://www.dhcae-tools.com/OpenFOAM.htm). We have a new version of CastNet meanwhile supporting more solvers and also an additional GUI to control the OpenFOAM run. You will find more information about this on our news-side: http://www.dhcae-tools.com/news.htm Best regards Ulli |

Hi Robert,
unfortunately, we can not provide CastNet as open source. CastNet is based on a commercial meshing technology, so we have to pay license fees ourselves for every CastNet license. There are some tools (e.g. our rungui) where we probably will provide a free version for all OpenFOAM users. Here we don’t have to pay license fees. Of course you can test CastNet one month free of charge. Best regards Ulli |
