Hi Guys

I wanna simulate a flow in channel with number of obstcales inside. Inlet and outlet faces are not same! Is it possible to build an OpenFOAM cyclic geometry out of a gmsh mesh? Thanks

Hi

May be no one understood what i was trying to say. Let me put it another way. Can i use cyclic BC in OF on a domain that has walls/obstcales inside. Thank you in advance for your reply

Yes. You can. But your periodic patches must be consistent.

When you say "consistent", you mean opposite faces must be geometrically consistent right?

Thank you Luiz

Is it gone be possible to use blockMesh if my patches are same on opposite sides. Please note i want to use channelOodles solver. I have several 3D walls inside my channel.

Cyclic BC works fine when i have no wall inside the channel but as soon as i place a wall inside the channel it gives me an error. Any idea why is this happening? Thank you very much luiz

You have partial walls, right? I dont see any problem with that, and yes, you can use channelOodles.
Did you try checkMesh?
Good luck,
luiz

I'm using a gmsh grid, too, but I'm having issues getting the cyclic boundary conditions to work. The grid just has a rectangular inlet and outlet with walls on the top and bottom. I want the left and right sides to be cyclic, but when I try running icoFoam I get errors. I've also tried createPatches, but that fails, too.
